Now I had some horrible dice rolls and a few tactical errors. I thought this list was fully optimized yet a few flaws in it showed pretty quickly. First off the hex rifle did nothing at all in the list. I was better off leaving the haemonculus with it in the aquad and using him in close combat. So inn the future I am switching around the wargear for my haemonculus to take up the extra points and to be more suitable for close combat. Next off was the dark lances were always moving in the warrior squad so they never got too shoot. For 60 points this was kind of a waste. To fix this I was originally gonna change them out for splinter cannons which have a heavy 6/Assault 4 profile which better suits my Warriors needs yet I am cutting the unit in half and putting the two lances into a trueborn unit with 3 trueborn. The reasoning behind this was I lacked enough firepower to do anything usefull, especially when the Ravagers went down. eventually I want to add a Voidraven into the list to make up for the fact that a dark lance is still only S8 and has trouble penetrating armor regardless of being a lance. I like the reavers still but unless you get into 9 inch range a heat lance wont do anything for you. The night shields proved thier worth tremendously at the tournament. It messes with an opponents mind when he visualizes how far he can shoot. It also nerfs melta guns and brings enemy rapid fire weapons inside of my own range. i also noticed the need for advanced aethersails in the warrior raiders since they are scoring. finally I desperatly needed the ability to tank shock as proven over the weekend so shock prows for the raiders. It also opens me to the ability to use kamakaze raiders. The last thing changed was a power weapon for the stun claw with the hellions since the claw was useless in a unit that basically would wipe out any unit it touched before it could grab anything.
So until I get a voidraven model, as well as more models with blasters and a venom done i will be using this list. Hopefully if any Grey Knights pop up that crucible of malediction will be fun even though it only takes out the seargents in the squads instead of every model....pity
Total Points- 1849

No extra lances yet more dispersed to allow more shooting which I need as the vehicles get taken down too quickly for thier own good. Poisoned 2+ weapons for the haemonculus in case he runs into something his S3 cant handle. I like static anti-tank squads, hide them in cover and shoot away.....gives those lances from the warriors a use, at 30 points a lance in a normal squad the unit costs no more than a normal warrior unit. Now I am worried the Raider warriors will die too easily yet with a blaster they still can do something....more on this later....

Everything looks fine in isolation, however when looked at as a whole the army seems too small. For example 90 pts for an armour 10 open topped vehicle is steep, no matter what upgrades it's got.
ReplyDeleteI'd try trimming some points, such as blast pistols, grenades etc. to get another unit and/or increase the size of some of the small fragile units such as the trueborn and reavers.
The overall theme is fine, I just think a bit too much as been spent on upgrades IMHO.
