The Phantom Ballistic Skills: Conspirisy of 6th!!!

Ok Lads, Gents, Chicks and Ladies....I bring to you a thought many never really give a second thought to....

Why do models without shooting weapons have ballistic skills? Now lets delve into the past....much like the bowl thing in Harry Potter.....to last October (que cool dreamy music).....

Dark Eldar was just about to come out....I was sitting in (RIP) the old great Veteran's Gaming, RI... with no other than Decio "The Decent" "The Rock... Man" "Melonhead" Terra flippin through the stores Black Box copy of the new threat to the Meta....what everyone feared...then laughed at calling it crap, now fearing again....the new shiny...slightly creepy...Codex: Dark Eldar...while flipping through its dark pages I happened to stumble upon a picture of a quite beautiful evil looking space Elf in High heels.....Lelithe herself....Now stumbling through her stats she is a combat beat....she has the highest ballistic skill in the book at BS8....but wait...she has no gun to shoot.....??????????

I remember having a discussion with Terra about how this was pointless but put no other thought to the matter....

Here we are....almost a year later and another set of chicks have arrived to our sausage fest of a game....We see our Patron...the Saint...Saint Celestine....awesome character....has her own phantom IC indecesiveness...etc.....yet she also has a high ballistic skill....yet no shooting weapon (pardon the heavy flamer that doesn't use BS)....WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?!?!?

We are close to 2012 after all...

So just one thought of speculation....it has long been known that ever since Codex: Bugz every book has been designed with 6th Edition in mind....so this leaves all of these phantom skill sets in this time period....could this have been with to intent to have a new rule based on bs in the new game...what could this be? Toss-able grenades? borrowed BS? I certainly cannot tell....but the voices in my head, who normally complain about being hungry, are telling me this means something....

So any speculation...personally I think its aliens....more on this later....

  1. With the advent of certain supplements such as apocolypse and planet strike, we have fortifications and weapon emplacements that use the controlling models BS, other than that there seems no reason other than fluff. Just because you dont have a gun in game, doesn't mean that fluff wise a model would bit have a BS, part of this game is RPG after all.
